Week 5 / Sleep
I would like to discuss sleep. It is known that sleep and even short naps help memory. It is said in the article "Naps May Help Memory"..Way too little sleep clearly is dangerous, leading to accidents and chronic illnesses.
Perhaps more common than insomnia is fragmented sleep - the easy awakening that comes with aging, or, worse, the sleep apnea that afflicts millions, who quit breathing for 30 seconds or so, continually during the night.
Indeed, scientists increasingly are focusing less on sleep duration and more on the quality of sleep, in studying how sleep helps the brain process memories so they stick. Particularly important is "slow-wave sleep," a period of very deep sleep that comes earlier than better-known REM sleep, or dreaming time.
I think sleep is very important, especially for teens. Since a lot of teens are leading stressful lives, from school and family. A typical teenager does not get 8 hours of sleep. Teenagers usually sleep less than 8 hours. Sleep also help recharge your body and helps you grow and you grow the most when you are usually in your teens. In my opinion, teenagers should sleep more often because sleep does not only improve memory, it also improve your personality, the way you feel and look. New studies show that sleep will also help you lose weight, I don't know that for a fact though. But sleep definitely helps you feel better. Fragmented sleep is the scary part, stop breathing for 30 seconds is still pretty scary.Sleep is essential for life.

week 4: personality
Jung Typology Test
I am a ISFJ which is slightly expressed introvert and distinctively expressed judging personality. I don't think this test is valid because on some of the answer choices I did not know..I could be either one. I have a 67% on judging, but I guess that's a little true. I could be a little judgemental.
Planet Personality/Find Your Hogwarts House: The Harry Potter Sorting Hat Personality Test
The sorting hat put me in Hufflepuff. I think the test was funny. I don't know whether it was true or not...but funny. Hufflepuff students are friendly, fair-minded, modest, and hard-working. A well-known member was Cedric Diggory, who represented Hogwarts in the most recent Triwizard Tournament. I think this test is valid enough.
Understand Yourself Personality Test
High scorers tend to be sensitive, emotional, and prone to experience feelings that are upsetting. High Neuroticism is associated with exercising more frequently. High scorers tend to be open to new experiences. They have broad interests and are imaginative. High Openness is associated with earning better grades, scoring higher on general intelligence tests, playing a musical instrument, holding liberal political opinions, and with preference for rock, heavy metal, classical, jazz, blues, and folk music. I think this test is valid, because it does describe me. My interests vary.
My Life
Financial SuccessThis goal is reflective of placing central value on personal wealth and material possessions, in comparison to other life rewards. Based on your responses to the present survey, you appear to place slightly more central value on financial success than the typical study participant.Social RecognitionThis goal is reflective of placing relatively high value on admiration from others and fame. Based on your responses to the present survey, you appear to place substantially less central value on social recognition than the typical study participant. I think this test is not valid. I mean its half valid but no one can predict your financial future.
Are You a Decider?
Being the decider is not for you – you’d rather relax and enjoy life instead of trying to forge ahead all the time. If you’re not the decider at home, you’ll eat what’s put in front of you and go where your spouse tells you, as long as you don’t have to worry about the details. If you’re not the decider at work, you’re content with your current position and don’t need the burden of unnecessary responsibility. I think this test is true because I can never decide on anything. My mind always changes. I think this test is valid enough.

week 3 part 2/ college letter
Letter/Disorder
Dear mom,
College life is not so great. I did meet one new friend though, I would not exactly call her a friend though. I do not trust her, but she seems nice or at least that is what others think. Her name is Sherin. She always talks to much, I never know if she is talking about me or not, behind my back. I am sorry I did not write the letter sooner, but Sherin was in the room. I did not want her to see what I am writing to you. I know I sound suspicious but I can not trust others. You never know when some one will betray you. Dorm life is not what I expected to be, I do not like sharing a room with Sherin. I think she always laughs at me behind my back.. is she just cheerful or is she laughing at me. I know I sound suspicious and stuff but I just can not be sure. The teachers in college are OK, but I never know when the will give me a pop quiz. I can never be sure. Anyway, I'll write later.

CASE STUDY 1
Case Study 1: Amy, age 38, is a worrier. She is restless, irritable and has difficulty concentrating. She worries that she worries so much and isn’t always sure what it is that she is worried about. She can’t let her husband or children leave the house without making them call her regularly to reassure her that they are ok. Her husband is growing weary of her fretting. Her children can’t understand what all the fuss is about. Their impatience with her only makes her worry more.
Amy is diagnosed with Generalized Anxiety Disorder. According to DSM-IV-TR, Amy finds it difficult to control the worry. The intensity, duration, or frequency of the anxiety and worry is far out of proportion to the actual likelihood or impact of the feared event. The person finds it difficult to keep worrisome thoughts from interfering with attention to tasks at hand and has difficulty stopping the worry. Adults with Generalized Anxiety Disorder often worry about everyday, routine life circumstances such as possible job responsibilities, finances, the health of family members, misfortune to their children, or minor matters.
I suggest a mode of therapy with Amy dealing with her worry and anxiety in more productive ways. It involves challenging irrational worrisome thoughts, learning how to postpone worrying, and learning to accept uncertainty in life. Amy should also talk daily with a psychiatrist until her disoder is gone. I also suggest for Amy to change her lifestyle and start a new program such as yoga or meditation to relax her mind. It will also reduce stress and be good for her health.

Week one/ famous person with a psychological disorder
Week one
Winston Churchill
One famous person with a mood disorder is Winston Churchill. He was also one of the prime ministers of Britain. In Churchill's thinking, he was unloved by his parents since they neglected him. This mood disorder led him to series of depression and also one of the world leaders.
"Black Dog" was Churchill's name for his depression, and as is true with all metaphors, it speaks volumes. Churchill replied, "If I can't be loved, I'll find a way to be admired." Black Dog is another name for depression.
In that dark time, what England needed was not a balanced leader. England needed a man who could dream dreams of victory when all seemed lost. Winston Churchill was such a man; and his inspirational quality owed its dynamic force to the romantic world of fantasy in which he had his true being." This disorder to me is werid, cause even though he has a mood disorder, he is one of the world leaders back then.
